Madeline and I met when we were both babies. Obviously, I wasn’t an exact baby, but I had that college-baby-face that I want back and we’re just gonna call it “baby”. She was a wee camper that couldn’t have been more than 6 or 7 and I was one of her counselors! Her mom was on staff with us, so we got to know the ins and outs of parenting a little girl that was so very curious about all the little things. Time passed and I’m sure Madeline forgot about her counselor (which, of course, is fine…there are so many of them!) and I trucked on to the next round of kids.
Flash forward many moons and she’s in front of my camera…AS A SENIOR. Talk about feel old! I remembered her, but just from association. It took just one outfit for her to find a tiny frog in the middle of our session for me to place her right back to her childhood. That’s the beauty of photography, guys. It just took a little time for her to open up and BAM…true personality captured and immortalized in picture form. Hopefully, her mom can hang this up next to a picture of 7-year-old Madeline and smile, knowing that her little girl continues to stay true to herself, which might be the biggest grown-up gift of all.
Thank you for letting me capture this special time as a senior! Not counting, but it might be my favorite one to date! 🙂 Let’s be honest, it was probably the frogs that put it over the top.
